Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger, the new Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Tichy-Fisslberger had been serving as Director General for Legal and Consular Affairs in Vienna since August 2007, and National Coordinator for the fight against human trafficking since March 2009. She was Deputy Director General for European and Economic Affairs from December 2003 to July 2007, and Director for general European Union matters and institutions from July 2000 to November 2003.
Ms. Tichy-Fisslberger served as Permanent Representative of Austria to the European Union in Brussels from July 1993 to June 2000. She also served at the Austrian Embassy in London from July 1992 to January 1993, and at the Austrian Embassy in Dublin from January to July 1990. She worked at the European Commission from 1982 until April 1988 when she entered into the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where she has held various other posts.
Ms. Tichy-Fisslberger studied law studies and language studies at Vienna University from 1976 to 1980 and has a degree from Louvain-la-Neuve University in Belgium (1981). She has been a lecturer at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy since 2002, and at the University of Vienna since 2006.
