In 2012, British writer and TED speaker Ann Morgan set out to read a book from every UN-recognised country in one calendar year.

The blog-based quest recorded at ayearofreadingtheworld.com drew the support of readers, authors and translators around the planet, and has inspired numerous reading ventures. Morgan will reflect on her experiences during the project, her research for her book «Reading the World» and ongoing interactions with the international literature community. She will reveal her approach to texts that force us outside our cultural comfort zones, as well as some of the extraordinary lengths booklovers went to in order to help her achieve her goal. Books have the potential to challenge accepted narratives and transform thinking and Ann Morgan will relate how sharing stories internationally can enrich lives and promote peace.
