About the event:
The Permanent Mission of Tunisia, together with Association Haïdra (based in Montreux, Switzerland) and its collaborating partners in Switzerland and Tunisia, presents a textile, clothing and jewelry exhibition at the Palais des Nations. The exhibition consists of traditional Tunisian and Swiss clothing and jewelry, including numerous Tunisian garments from the 18th century. The exhibition aims to reflect that tradition and culture is passed on through clothing, which varies not only vary from country to country, but also through the generations. It also highlights the diverse cultural heritage of both Tunisia and Switzerland and celebrates a century of between the two nations.
During the exhibition, an artisan will provide demonstrations of Tunisian craftsmanship and a guide will be present to explain the various items on display, allowing visitors to learn about Tunisian customs and understand the detailed embroidery techniques used to create garments. Musicians from both Tunisia and Switzerland will also perform folk music native to their countries. The exhibition’s opening ceremony on 1 November will be accompanied by dancing, music, and Tunisian food.
