On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Slovenia's membership in the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia is pleased to launch a photo exhibition titled "25 years" portraying achievements of Slovenia in the United Nations over the last 25 years.
Immediately after becoming a UN member, Slovenia became actively involved in the work of its bodies and specialised agencies. As early as in 1992, Slovenia opened permanent representations with the UN Headquarters in New York and with the UN Office in Geneva and accredited the then Slovenian Ambassador to Austria as a permanent representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN Office in Vienna.
Slovenia has from the very beginning supported UN efforts to maintain peace by protection of human rights, ensuring better living conditions to children and women, alleviating social distress in underdeveloped countries, promotion of environmental and health protection, and international cooperation in the fields of culture and science.
The exhibition takes the visitor through important milestones of Slovenia's work in the UN in the course of last 25 years.
