About the event:

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe: Committee on Housing and Land Management wishes to organize a photo exhibition to celebrate World Habitat Day. The exhibition will also serve to commemorate and promote the Geneva UN Charter on Sustainable Housing, which is fundamental in supporting the goals of World Habitat Day.

The city of Geneva plays an integral role in this exhibition as it is home to an abudance of nationalities, international organizations and multinational companies; it is unique in its ability to accommodate immense diversity in terms of ideas, action and people.

The exhibition will be moved to Pregny Gate during the 78th Session of the Committee on Housing and Land Management for the duration of November and December.

About the photographer:

Sharmishta Sivaramakrishnan is a graduate from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and is currently pursuing a Master in Development Studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. She is the UN Youth Representative for Caring for Cambodia and the Youth Ambassador for World Summit Award. Her professional experiences include UNAIDS, the Council of Foreign Relations, UN Women Singapore, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, among others. As a Singaporean citizen reaised accros the Middle East, Europe, South and Southeast Asia, Sharmishta considers herself as “a citizen of the world,” a phrase gracefully used by Taiye Selasi.
