Russian UN Global Compact Network with the valuable support of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN Office in Geneva is organizing two cultural events during the 6th session of United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, an exhibition and a dance performance. These events fit harmonically the context of the Forum, related to human rights, considering their multilateral nature, and allow presenting certain relevant aspects of life in contemporary Russia, involving responsible business.
About the event
The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation, together with the Russian network of the UN Global Compact (Network Russia), wishes to organize a dance and play performance entitled “I Dance”, presented by performers with disabilities, including those with Down syndrome.
This performance takes place in the framework of the the 6th session of United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights (27 to 29 November 2017). It aims to communicate to audiences the rights of those with disabilities, and to reflect the emotions and sincerity that they show to the world in being themselves.
The performance was the first event in the framework of the “InterAction” project—a young Russian volunteer movement that aims to create and encourage tolerance, and expand opportunities for development and participation in society, and promote the professional relevance and capability of people with Down syndrome.

The Russian Federation is a member of the United Nations Global Compact, the UN initiative encouraging businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
The Russia Network of the UN Global Compact recognises that inclusion remains a developing concept in Russia, and social art is continuing to build a wider audience. In this respect, Russian businesses that are a part of the Network are taking on the task of promoting the development of inclusivity in the country and the rights of all. including highlighting projects that represent the rights of different gr which are of enormous importance for entire social groups.
