Recent donations

Every year, the art collection of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is enriched by works of art donated by one of the Member States of the Organization. Proposals for donations are presented to the Cultural Activities Committee, which decides whether the proposed work is consistent with the principles of the United Nations art collection, and whether the practical requirements for its installation can be met. In recent years, the number of donations has grown as a result of the increased importance of the cultural activities programme. In 2003, the following United Nations Member States contributed, directly or indirectly, to the enrichment of the permanent art collection of UNOG: Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, the Dominican Republic, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Uruguay and Zimbabwe.
