GENEVA - The United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, Ivan Simonovic, is conducting his first ever mission to Central Asia from 19 to 29 May 2013.
Mr. Simonovic is visiting Kyrgyzstan from 19 to 20 May; Tajikistan from 21 to 22 May; Turkmenistan from 24 to 25 May; and Uzbekistan from 26 to 29 May.
During his ten-day mission, Mr. Simonovic will meet with high-level officials in the four countries, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ministers of Justice, Ministers of Interior and Prosecutor Generals. Mr. Simonovic will also meet with the Heads of National Human Rights Institutions as well as with the United Nations Country Teams, members of civil society and the diplomatic corps.
