The Institutional Memory Section is the official repository for all records of the organization that have enduring historical and administrative value.

The holdings include 8 fonds and collections comprised of 6 linear kilometers of personal and organizational records that documents a variety of subject areas.
For UN Office at Geneva Archives, the majority of records are accessible to the public 20 years after closure of the file. Access to restricted records can be requested. All other archives materials are accessible to the public.
The League of Nations Archives have been registered since 2009 on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
The League of Nations Archives were recognized as a unique collection of global importance that met the criteria established by UNESCO for the Memory of the World Programme to facilitate preservation, assist with universal access and increase awareness worldwide for documentary heritage of international, regional and national significance.
