The Acting Director-General participated in a breakfast briefing with the Board Members of the United Nations Foundation.

The Acting Director-General chaired a UNOG Executive Briefing with Mr. Cyril Muller, World Bank’s Vice President for External and Corporate Affairs. Mr. Muller explained that the World Bank Group (WBG) Board had endorsed two new goals in April 2013: to end extreme poverty by 2030 and to boost shared prosperity by promoting real income growth for the bottom 40 percent of the population.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in presidential consultations of the Conference.

The Acting Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Fodé Seck, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, H.E. Mr. Ridha Bouabid, Permanent Observer of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, and Mr. Francis Gurry, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The Acting Director-General participated in a session of the Consultative Commission on the relations with “International Geneva”.

The Acting Director-General participated in a Crisis Management Team Simulation Exercise. The main aim of this exercise was to test the ability of the Crisis Management Team to take decisions during a crisis.

The Acting Director-General participated in a dinner organized by the United Nations Foundation and the World Economic Forum.

The Acting Director-General opened the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) Meeting of Experts on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in the plenary meeting of the Conference.

The Acting Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Michel Duclos, Ambassador of France to the Swiss Confederation.

The Acting Director-General met with Mr. Miguel de Serpa Soares, Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs.

The Acting Director-General met with the Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). They discussed the ongoing perception change project to promote “International Geneva”.

The Acting Director-General met with Ms. Angela Kane, High Representative for Disarmament Affairs.

The Acting Director-General met with Mr. Ian Richards, Executive Secretary of UNOG Staff Coordinating Council.

The Acting Director-General opened a reception organized in honour of the Members of the Board of the United Nations Foundation, including former Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Mr. Ted Turner. He recalled that, at the heart of the work of the United Nations Foundation was a deep-rooted belief in multilateralism, in partnerships, and in the mission of the United Nations.

The Acting Director-General inaugurated “Ciné-ONU Geneva”, a new initiative by the United Nations Information Service in Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Alexandros Alexandris, Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland.

The Acting Director-General participated in a farewell reception hosted by H.E. Mr. José Luis Balmaceda, Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General chaired a UNOG Executive Briefing by Ms. Kathy Calvin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the UN Foundation. Ms. Calvin provided an overview of the current efforts of the Foundation in mobilizing business and non-governmental organizations to help the United Nations confront current challenges, including sustainable development, global health, peace and security, and empowerment

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya and Resident Coordinator.

The Acting Director-General delivered remarks on “the role of Geneva for the United Nations and of the United Nations for Geneva”. He explained how the various stakeholders could contribute to maintaining and promoting the role of International Geneva.

The Acting Director-General met with Mr. Mark Bowden, United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Afghanistan. They discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan.

Acting Director-General met with Dr. Vladimir Kuvshinov, Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO).

The Acting Director-General gave an interview to Ms. Susanna Pak, Media Officer at the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The Acting Director-General attended a diner “flavours of the world” organized by the International Circle of the Fondation pour Genève.

The Acting Director-General visited the Permanent Mission of Turkey to sign the condolence book on the occasion of the coal mine tragedy.

The Acting Director-General hosted a luncheon for Ms. Kathy Calvin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the United Nations Foundation.

The Acting Director-General attended a dinner hosted by H.E. Mr. Thomas Hajnoczi, Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations Office and specialized institutions in Geneva.
