The new Permanent Representative of Portugal, H.E. Mr. Pedro Nuno de Abreu e Melo Bártolo, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General met with journalists participating in the Reham Al-Farra Memorial Fellowship Programme, organized by the United Nations Department of Public Information.

The Director-General participated in a luncheon hosted by Mr. António Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on the occasion of the High Level Segment of UNHCR’s Executive Committee.

The Director-General met H.E. Mrs. Maria Nazareth Farani Azevêdo, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva prior to her departure from Geneva and wished her success in future endeavours.

The Director-General met Ms. Elena Timtchenko, President of the NEVA Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Geneva promoting cultural and scientific exchanges between the Russian Federation and Switzerland.

The Director-General opened the UNOG Library Talk "Human Rights as International Constitutional Law", a Shabtai Rosenne Memorial Lecture.

The Director-General opened the 12th International Conference of Editors of Diplomatic Documents, organized by the UNOG Library in partnership with Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland.

The new Permanent Representative of India to the Conference on Disarmament, H.E. Mr. D. Bala Venkatesh Varma, presented his letter of nomination to the Director-General.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic hosted by H.E. Ms. Katerina Sequensová, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General opened the UNOG Library Talk "Linguistic Rights and Duties in the Evolution of Public Laws".

The Director-General participated in the launch of the UN Handbook, organized by the Government of New Zealand.

The Director-General participated in a dinner hosted by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 12th International Conference of Editors of Diplomatic Documents.

The Director-General met Mr. Mohamed Khamlichi, Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Korea hosted by Mr. Choi Seokyoung, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General was interviewed by World Radio Switzerland.

The Director-General opened an exhibition of works by Andy Warhol, organized by the Permanent Missions of the Slovak Republic and the United States of America.

The Director-General met with Mr. Kostyantyn Gryschenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine to discuss issues of cooperation and interaction between the United Nations and Ukraine.

The Director-General chaired a meeting of the Group of Friends of the Palais des Nations, which focused on recent developments regarding the Strategic Heritage Plan for renovation of the Palais des Nations.
