The Director-General addressed the Annual Space Security Conference of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) on "Enhancing confidence, securing space stability".

The Director-General met United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Jan Eliasson. They discussed issues of common interest and the advancement of United Nations priorities.

The Director-General met H.E. Mr. SO Se Pyong, Permanent Representative of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva regarding the current situation in the Korean peninsula.

The Director-General opened a round table on “Technology, Innovation and Multilingualism”, organized by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. He highlighted multilingualism as an important United Nations priority and stressed its role in preserving diversity and cultural and political values, as well as creativity, innovation and social cohesion.

The Director-General opened a round table discussion on "Actors in Demining" organized jointly by UNOG and the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) on the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.
