Selected Highlights of the Director-General's activities

The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in presidential consultations of the Conference, which resumed its work today.

The Director-General participated in an Interreligious Service organized by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General participated in the opening plenary meeting of the 2013 session of the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General met Mr. Heinrich Mandel-Mantello, a “veteran” user of the UNOG Library for over 60 years. He personally presented newly-extended UNOG Cultural Passports to Mr. and Mrs. Mandel-Mantello, and offered them a special Lifetime Honorary Library Card.

The Director-General attended a concert of the United Nations Orchestra, held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty between Germany and France.

The Director-General met Mr. Ján Kubiš, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.
