The Director-General met Mr. Alexander Zuev, UN Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Resident Representitive in Tajikistan.
The new Permanent Representative of Malaysia, Mr. Mazlan Muhammad, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General addressed the 2012 edition of the Geneva Opera Pool. He highlighted the role played by the city and canton of Geneva, as well as the Host Country, Switzerland, in the work of the United Nations.

The new Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ms. Karen Elizabeth Pierce, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who expressed confidence that she would be successful in accomplishing her mission with the support of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
The Permanent Observer of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), Mr. Jean-Luc Senou, presented his letter of nomination to the Director-General.
The Director-General met Mr. Dmitry Titov, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Jan Knutsson, Permanent Representative of Sweden on the occasion of the International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations, to be held from 9-11 May 2012 at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.

The Director-General participated in the Annual Conference of the United Nations Inter-Agency Network of Facilities Managers (INFM).
The Director-General attended a reception in celebration of the “Day of Europe” hosted by Mr. Angelos Pangratis, Permanent Representative of the European Union (EU) to the World Trade Organization and by Mrs. Mariangela Zappia, Permanent Observer of the EU to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
The Director-General met Ms. Laura Mirachian, Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva to discuss continued cooperation and areas of common interest.
The Director-General attended a reception hosted by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations event.

The Director-General chaired a session on “Peace Operations and the Humanitarian Space – How can the military and the civilians cooperate in protecting civilians?” as part of the International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations, organized by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
The Director-General met Mr. Warren Sach, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of Central Support Services, United Nations Department of Management. They discussed issues related to management and provision of services at the United Nations Office at Geneva.
The Director-General met Ms. Martine Coppens, Director of the United Nations Orchestra to discuss UNOG support for the ongoing activities of the orchestra.

The Director-General welcomed members of the State Councils of Geneva and St. Gallen to the Palais des Nations for a comprehensive visit.
The Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by Ms. Sujata Mehta, Permanent Representative of India to the Conference on Disarmament.
The Director-General met Mr. Alexander Likhotal, President of Green Cross International and
Mr. Garry Jacobs, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the World Academy of Art and Science to discuss common priorities with regard to nuclear disarmament.
