The Director-General opened the General Assembly of the International School of Geneva’s Students' League of Nations (SLN).
The Director-General participated in the celebration of Human Rights Day 2012, organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Director-General participated in a reception to mark the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union, hosted by Ms. Mariangela Zappia, Chief of the Permanent Delegation, Permanent Observer of the European Union to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Qatar, hosted by Ms. Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
The Director-General welcomed a delegation of state counsellors from Geneva and Ticino, Switzerland to the Palais des Nations.
The Director-General met Mr. Philippe Lefort, European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia to discuss issues of common interest.
The Director-General attended a reception hosted by the Government of Tajikistan on the occasion of the conclusion of negotiations on the accession of Tajikistan to the World Trade Organization and met with the President of the country, Mr. Emomalii Rahmon.

The new Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. John Chrisostom Edmund Sandy, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General chaired a meeting of the Group of Friends of the Palais des Nations, which focused on recent developments regarding the Strategic Heritage Plan for renovation of the Palais des Nations.

The Director-General met Mr. Mohamed Camara, Permanent Representative of Guinea to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, to discuss issues of common interest and to wish him well upon his departure from Geneva.
The Director-General participates in opening of the Fifth Dialogue on Protection Challenges organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The Director-General participated by videoconference in a meeting of the Senior Management Group, chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General.
The Director-General opened the photo exhibition “The State of the World’s Refugees: In Search of Solidarity”, organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Director-General attended a dinner hosted by Mrs. Päivi Kairamo-Hella, Permanent Representative of Finland to the Conference on Disarmament.
