The Director-General represented the Secretary-General at the Sixteenth Session of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), taking place in The Hague from 28 November to 2 December 2011

The Director-General met with Mr. Paul van den IJssel, President-designate of the Seventh Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which will take place at the Palais des Nations from 5 December to 22 December 2011 to review the 15 articles of the Convention.

The Director-General presided over the annual Special Meeting to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in accordance with General Assembly resolution 32/40B of 2 December 1977 and delivered the Secretary-General’s message on this occasion.
The Director-General met with the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Mr. Victor Bolyasnikov, and other senior representatives of the Bank. The discussion touched on the work of the EDB in support of regional development and on current economic challenges.

The Director-General opened an exhibition entitled “Serbia: Diplomacy and Art”, organized by the Permanent Mission of Serbia to pay tribute to diplomat and writer Ivo Andrić, and received a painting by Serbian painter Marija Dragojlović.
The Director-General participated in the Annual Meeting of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform under the title “Political Transitions in North Africa and beyond: What the Peacebuilding Community Can Contribute”.

The Director-General chaired a regular Town Hall Meeting with all UNOG staff to review achievements over the past year and outline priorities for 2012.

The Director-General met with Dr. Daniel Warner, Assistant Director for International Relations, Management, of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) for a discussion of current global challenges.
