The Director-General met with Mr. Joseph Deiss, former President and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and President of the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly, to discuss issues of common concern.

The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Agustin Santos Maraver, Permanent Representative of Spain on the occasion of the National Day of Spain.
13 OCTOBER 2011
The Director-General attended a reception to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, hosted by the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).

The Director-General visited the Staff Development and Learning Section at UNOG to meet with staff and view ongoing programmes.

The Director-General participated in a video conference with Ms. Angela Kane, Under-Secretary-General for Management on the proposed Mobility Framework for the United Nations.

The Director-General met with the Bureau of the Human Rights Council, headed by its President, Mrs. Laura Dupuy Lasserre, Permanent Representative of Uruguay, to discuss UNOG support services to the Council.

The Director-General participated in a working meeting with Mr. Ján Kubiš, Executive Secretary, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to discuss continued cooperation between UNOG and UNECE and issues of common concern.

The Director-General welcomed United Nations Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon to Bern, Switzerland, and accompanied him on a visit of the Swiss Parliament, which included meetings with Mrs. Micheline Calmy-Rey, President of the Swiss Confederation and the two Presidents of the Swiss Parliament, Mr. Jean-René Germanier, President of the National Council (Lower Chamber), and Mr. Hansheiri Inderkum, President of the Council of States (Upper Chamber).
