2007 Annual Tripartite Meeting
The annual meetings between United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and partner organizations in the Tripartite format took place from 13 to 14 February 2007 at the Hofburg Conference Centre in Vienna under the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
The High-level and the Target-oriented meetings, both dedicated this year to the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, represented an opportunity for strengthening collaboration with regional and other intergovernmental organizations to advance effective implementation of the Strategy, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 8 September 2006.
Participants at the meeting emphasized that preventing and combating terrorism remained a top priority for their organizations. In this respect, they acknowledged the importance of adopting an integrated and comprehensive approach to combating terrorism, and welcomed the common framework provided in their efforts by the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. They recognized the key role that regional organizations could play in operationalizing global policies at the regional level in this field.
