On the occasion of the World Environment Day, on 5 June 2010, the gates of the Ariana Park were opened to the public. Didactic activities show casing the biodiversity within the Ariana Park encouraged the public to discover the rich flora of the Park. A treasure hunt game and a "Snakes & Ladders" game on a human scale particularly interested the young public.
On the occasion of this Open day, more than a dozen of shows were organized on three open-air stages in the Ariana Park : stage "Sphere", by the Armiliary sphere, in the Cour d'honneur ; stage "Serpent" by the bar Serpent in the new building, and stage "Pelouse", situated in the gargen of the Villa "La pelouse".
It is on the stage Sphere that, at about 11 a.m. the "Jukebox Heroes" started the first musical show of the day. This group, coming from the Nyon area (25 km away from Geneva), is composed of six young guys aged 18 to 20. They offered us a mix of rock and pop successes from the 80s and 90s.
They were followed by the young singer from Vaud named K
, who played his own very intimist compositions and songs, accompanied with this guitar.
The Tango schoole, Tango Addiction,
set fire to the stage with demonstration of Argentinean tango performed in the most perfect way which this art requires.
Another form of dance, more modern this time, lit up the stage: the group « les Titans »
, from Estavayer-le-Lac, offered a stunning demonstration of hip hop. They participated in several Swiss championships and in the world championships (in 2009) which took place in Las Vegas (United States of America).
In addition to their performance, they also offered a "coaching" session to the young public.
