GGE sessions in 2002

The Second Review Conference (Geneva, 11 - 21 December 2001) established an open-ended Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) with separate mandates on Explosive Remnants of War, Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines, possible options to promote compliance with the Convention and its annexed Protocol, and Small Calibre Weapons and Ammunition. The GGE had to report on its work to a meeting of States Parties to the Convention to be held in Geneva on 12 and 13 December 2002, in conjunction with the Fourth Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II.

The work of the GGE was undertaken in three sessions in Geneva during 2002, as follows: 20 - 24 May 2002; 15 – 26 July 2002; and 2 – 10 December 2002.
