Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - 30th Session

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is the body of independent experts which monitors implementation of the Convention by the States parties.

Worldwide, there are an estimated one billion people with disabilities. Through its engagement and cooperation with States parties, the Committee promotes inclusion, advocates for the human rights of all persons with disabilities, and provides recommendations to support the implementation of the provisions enshrined in the Convention.

Human Rights Committee - 140th session

The Human Rights Committee is the body of 18 independent experts that monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by its State parties.

All States parties are obliged to submit regular reports to the Committee on how civil and political rights are being implemented. States must report initially one year after acceding to the Covenant and then whenever the Committee requests. In accordance with the Predictable Review Cycle, the Committee requests the submission of the report based on an eight-year calendar. The Committee examines each report and addresses its concerns and recommendations to the State party in the form of ‘concluding observations’.

The UN Human Rights Council will hold its 55th regular session from 26 February to 5 April 2024 at UNGeneva under the presidency of Ambassador Omar Zniber. of Morocco. 

During its six-week session, the Council will examine more than 100 reports submitted by the UN Secretariat and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, human rights experts and other investigative bodies on a wide range of topics relating to the human rights situation in almost 45 countries.
