Geneva Peace Talks
The theme of the Geneva Peace Talks 2015 was “It's time for peace!”
In light of daily news headlines about war and violent conflict, the Geneva Peace Talks 2015 highlighted the urgency to support peace efforts around the world. The Geneva Peace Talks looked back on past peace efforts, learned more about ongoing initiatives and drew conclusions for the future of peacebuilding. Speakers shared innovative ways to strengthen peace and prevent violent conflict – now and in the future.
Speakers came from violent and divided environments and had diverse backgrounds such as science, art, business, and more. They shared their personal stories of peace and how they are making a difference in peacebuilding efforts.
The Geneva Peace Talks are a public event organized on the occasion of the International Day of Peace in a partnership between the United Nations Office at Geneva, Interpeace and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform.

ABOUT THE PEACE TALKS
The Peace Talks is an event series with the objective to expand the space for discussion about building peace and resolving conflict. The Peace Talks aims to change perceptions about peace and to make the issue of peace more understandable and accessible to a wider public. The Peace Talks bring together speakers from different sectors and industries to share their personal stories, ideas and practical solutions to resolve conflict.
The Peace Talks were initiated in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2013 at the United Nations through the first-ever Geneva Peace Talks co-organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva, Interpeace and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform. The Geneva Peace Talks is the flagship event of the Peace Talk series with additional events being planned in different parts of the world.
The event features speakers from diverse backgrounds, including the UN, government, business, arts, and civil society sharing their personal stories about peace. Each speaker gives a 8-minute inspirational talk known as a “Peace Talk”. While looking at what peace means within their own lives, speakers and audience get a better sense of how they can play a more active role in promoting peace. This event aims to highlight that everyone can contribute to peace – be it at home or in a far-away conflict zone. The spirit of the Peace Talks is one of collaboration and reinforces that each and every person has a role to play in peace.
The event was made possible with the generous support of the Fondation pour Genève
, the Swiss Confederation
, the Republic and State of Geneva, the City of Geneva,
and the Global Shapers Community Geneva.
