Director-General’s message
It is a privilege to lead the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) at this important moment in time.
We are living through a period of globalization and transformation. Connections across nations and peoples are becoming ever-more crucial. Complex and cross-cutting challenges require joint actions of the international community.
Regardless of ethnic and religious identities, we must unite on the basis of democracy and the protection of human rights to tackle the problems the United Nations family faces. My credo is unity in diversity and I am absolutely committed to this noble goal.
In this reality, the United Nations is being called upon to do more than ever before – from resolving conflicts and promoting disarmament and non-proliferation to advancing sustainable development, ensuring respect for human rights, fighting climate change and addressing ever-growing humanitarian needs.
As a hub for multilateral action, a service provider of excellence to the United Nations system and a platform for cultural exchange, UNOG plays a central role in supporting the Organization’s response to the inter-related challenges before the international community.
By facilitating inclusive partnerships among key stakeholders – Governments, international organizations, civil society and the private sector – UNOG contributes to forging long-term solutions for people across the globe, based on a common vision of a better world.
Together with the United Nations family, we work to make the vision of progress and prosperity enshrined in the United Nations Charter a reality for all.
I invite you to explore our website and get to know more about UNOG’s role in the United Nations’ efforts for a better world.
Only with your support can we achieve our shared goals.
