The Director-General hosted the opening of an exhibit on the “Doers of Democracy” which was organized by the United Nations Democracy Fund in commemoration of the International Day for Democracy. The Director-General read the statement of the Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon on the occasion, who noted that “the UN does more than any other single organization to strengthen democratic institutions and practices around the world”. In addition, the Director-General highlighted the active role of organizations in Geneva to promote democracy through their work in security, development and human rights.
