Acting Director-General Participates in Commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

24 March 2014

The Acting Director-General participated in a commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. He noted that the International Day was an opportunity to pay tribute to the victims, honour their memory, and to recognize the contributions of slaves and their descendants and, above all, to highlight the need to address ongoing slave-like practices affecting more than 20 million people across the world.
