Director-General Inaugurates Students’ League of Nations 18th General Assembly

The Director-General opened the 18th General Assembly of the Students’ League of Nations, bringing together at the Palais des Nations some 300 secondary students from Switzerland and other countries. The Director-General highlighted that today more than a quarter of the world’s people are between the ages of 10 and 24, and he encouraged the participants to become not just the leaders of the future, but the leaders of today. Outlining the Secretary-General’s key priorities – sustainable development, energy sustainability, a safer and more secure world, supporting countries in transition, and working with and for women and youth – the Director-General praised the participants’ innovation and dynamism as a strong foundation for making a difference.
