The Director-General delivered the message of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to the Sixth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW). In his message, the Secretary-General highlighted that the harm to people and development caused by explosive remnants of war long after a conflict has ended remains significant and widespread. He also stressed that the United Nations fully supports efforts to diminish the burden of conflict on civilians.
