The Director-General participated in the launch of the global anti-landmine campaign "Lend Your Leg", on the 13th anniversary of the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention becoming international law. He stressed the importance of the adoption of the Convention, and noted that the vision of a world free of landmines had galvanized governments, civil society, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement, and the United Nations into taking decisive action on anti-personnel mines.
