Director-General Opens “Charm of the Chinese Calligraphy” Exhibition

The Director-General participated in the opening of the “Charm of the Chinese Calligraphy” exhibition at the Palais des Nations. In his remarks, he noted the role of calligraphy in not only promoting Chinese culture but in building bridges between cultures as well. He also highlighted the importance of literacy in achieving the Millennium Development Goals, and the upcoming International Literacy Day on 8 September 2011.
