The event “Development of Human Rights and John Paul II”, which included a conference, concert and exhibition of stamps, was attended by the Director-General. In his opening remarks, the Director-General recognized John Paul II as a great representative of humankind and a consistent promoter of peace and human rights. He also highlighted the respect for human rights as one of the core principles of the work of the United Nations.
