Director-General Commemorates World Humanitarian Day

The Director-General participated in the commemoration of World Humanitarian Day. He opened a panel discussion on the contribution of journalists in reporting on humanitarian situations, and expressed his appreciation for their commitment and conviction. He remarked that World Humanitarian Day celebrates the spirit of solidarity that drives humanitarian workers to devote their talents and time to helping people and pays tribute to those who have lost their lives in that pursuit. Following the panel discussion, the Director-General unveiled a plaque honouring those who died in the 19 August 2003 bombing targeting the United Nations in Iraq.
