The Visitors' Service is closed until Sunday 10 January 2010.
Be one of the 100,000 visitors who take the tour of the Palais des Nations each year. One hour tours are available in more than 15 languages. Nearly half of our visitors are students from universities and schools.
What you will see
- The Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room (decorated by Mr. Barcelo) - included in the Guided Tours since 8 April 2009
- One of the conference rooms in the new building.
- Some of the gifts presented by various countries to the United Nations Office at Geneva
- The Salle des Pas Perdus, from where you can see the Armillary Sphere and the monument commemorating the conquest of outer space.
- The Assembly Hall, the largest room in the Palais des Nations.
- The Council Chamber, where many important negotiations have taken place. The walls are covered with impressive murals.
- A film on the activities and the objectives of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
- You will also be informed about the work of the United Nations and the history of the Palais des Nations, formerly headquarters of the League of Nations.
Please note that, due to meetings scheduling, a change in the tour route can occur without prior notice.
When can you visit the Palais des Nations?
Between April and June, September and October, the Palais des Nations is opened to visitors every day, including week end, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In July and August, the Palais des Nations opens every day, including week end, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, non stop.
From November to March, the Palais des Nations is opened on week days (Monday to Friday) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (closed between 19 December 2009 until 10 January 2010 included).
Entrance
Visitors must enter at the Pregny Gate at 14, avenue de la Paix.
Valid identity documents are required.
Public transport: lines 8, 28, F, V and Z stop at "Appia"; lines 5 and 11 stop at "Nations"; Tramways 13 and 15 Terminus "Nations".
Tour fees
- Adult fee: CHF 10.-
- University students, senior citizens and disabled persons: CHF 8.-
- School children from 6 years old: CHF 5.- (one adult free of charge per group of 20 children)
- Groups: 20 per cent discount is offered on the total price for groups of 20 (and more) adults
- Private tours for groups from one to 14 adults: CHF 150.-
