Steering Committee for the Modernization and Integration of United Nations Libraries
United Nations Library and Information Network for Knowledge Sharing (UN-LINKS)
The Steering Committee, established in 2003 (A/RES/58/101), is mandated to develop and implement a strategy to achieve a more modern, efficient and accessible library system within the United Nations, taking into account the specifity and comparative advantage of each member library while ensuring an integrated, coherent and coordinated approach on United Nation libraries management and policy.
The libraries of the United Nations systems have been meeting regularly since 1995, most recently as UN-LINKS. Increased attendance at these meetings indicates a growing interest in sharing best practices as well as an acknowledgement of the need to work in partnership.
