Archives Policies
On 5 June 2000, responsibility for all archive-related functions in UNOG, hitherto handled by General Services in the shape of the Registry Unit and the Records Unit, was entrusted to the UNOG Library, which since 1965 had been in charge of managing the historical archives of the League of Nations. The objective of this transfer was the strengthening of the records and archives management functions at UNOG.
This transfer of responsibility led to a complete review of the policy and procedures for archives management in UNOG, while respecting the need for continuity between records management and the management of historical archives, hand in hand with the development of new technologies.
The details of the new policy were laid down in information circular IC/Geneva/2001/55 of 26 November 2001.
